For all of those anglers waiting in anticipation to receive entry forms to our Marco Boats Fishing Competition, we must advise that we have cancelled the 2012 Fishing Competition.

This decision was not made lightly, and in fact took many months to finalise.

Our decision was made from 2 concerns:

Due to increased financial pressures in 2011, we have been unable to commit to providing the fishing competition to the degree that we have come to expect. So rather than putting on a competition that could potentially dissatisfy and leave you disappointed, we have decided to cancel it for 2012;

As most of you would know, the MV Rena has caused a number of issues in and around the waters in Tauranga, primarily the floating containers jeopardising the safety of our fisher folk (which is our number one priority). As such, we simply could not risk the possibility of anything happening (even though this is very remote). After all, we do want you at the 2013 Fishing Competition!

We feel that this is simply the right decision for 2012. As I mentioned above, we will definitely be back in 2013. Keep an eye out in the post, look at our website, and “friend” us on Facebook where we will post updates from time to time.
